There are additional petitions (filing fee, In-absentia, nomination your qualifying committee) on R'Grad on your R'Space menu.

Rotations are only for 5-weeks and you will track your rotations and your choice of a permanent lab using a Google sheet shared with you with by the staff advisor, and shared with the faculty advisor for PLPA.  After you choose your permanent lab, please forward the following paperwork to your PI with instructions to return the signed paperwork to the staff advisor.

The annual review process has two parts: The student initiates the Annual Mentoring and Evaluation (AME) Petition in R'Grad and the student's major professor completes information regarding the student's progress after the committee meets with the student to discuss their performance.

Annual Mentoring and Evaluation Process

Step 1: Student initiates and completes the Annual Mentoring and Evaluation (AME) in R'Grad.

Step 1.5: (optional) If additional collaborators are required to be part of the annual student review (such as a guidance committee), they can be added to the routing by the student. Collaborators have the option to add comments regarding the student's academic progress.

Step 2: Student's major professor completes information regarding the student's progress. If the student doesn't have a major professor, the Graduate Advisor completes in their place.

Step 3: The AME will return to the student to review the assessment by the major professor and any collaborators.

Step 4: Graduate Staff review to track student progress and not completion of the AME for students in their program.

Step 5: Graduate Advisor reviews for final program approval.

Step 6: Graduate Dean/Graduate Academic Affairs Review

• A student making satisfactory progress on the AME will have their petition continue through the routing process and complete without review.
• A student making unsatisfactory progress will be reviewed by the Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies.

After submitting your AME petition, please review your Degree Audit to make sure that you have completed all degree requirements and you do not have any Grade Delays on your record.

Before scheduling your written and oral qualifying exams, go to your Degree Audit on your R'Space to make sure that you have: (1) completed all degree requirements; (2) that you have attended 250 every quarter required, and; (3) you do not have any Grade Delays on your record. To form your qualifying committee, please consult the Graduate Division Rules and Regulation and then fill out the form to get Graduate Division's approval for your committee. You must receive official Graduate Division approval of your qualifying committee before you sit for your qualifying exams.

Upon completion of your preliminary written exam, you must submit the 'Report of Exam or Degree Requirement' petition via R'Grad. Please be sure to follow the appropriate steps in the petition. It will then route forward to the committee to report the results, and you will receive email updates on the final approval. Once the oral exam has been completed, be sure you submit the 'Report of the Oral Qualifying Exam' petition via R'Grad. Your approved oral qualifying exam committee will auto-populate. Again, follow the appropriate steps in the petition; it will then route forward to the committee to report the results, and you will receive email updates on the final approval.

Students form their dissertation committees after their oral qualifying exam. Forming your Dissertation Committee requires Graduate Division approval. Before filling out the form in R'Grad, consult the Graduate Division Rules and Regulation  website for rules about the formation of your dissertation committee. 

To change or finish nominating your Dissertation Committee, log in to R'Grad and select the 'Committee Change (Dissertation/Thesis)' petition. Once the changes have been made, you will submit the petition and you will receive an official notification from Graduate Division when your committee has been approved.

Go to your Degree Audit to make sure that you have completed all degree requirements and you do not have any Grade Delays on your record every quarter.

Before scheduling your defense, please check to make sure you have satisfied all of the degree requirements needed on Degree Audit on your R'Space.
