The Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology's weekly Plant Pathology 250 seminar series is presented this week by:

Moriaki Saito, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside. 

Seminar Title: "Elucidating RNA-binding protein granule functions against bacterial pathogen infection"

Biography: Moriaki Saito is a 3rd-year graduate student in Dr. Hailing Jin's lab. His research is focused on RNA interference-mediated modulation of plant immune systems.

Gretchen Heimlich, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside. 

Seminar Title: "Soil Health, Root Health, and Citrus Huanglongbing"

Biography: Gretchen Heimlich is a third-year PhD student in the laboratory of Dr. Caroline Roper. She came to plant pathology by way of bachelor’s degrees in Creative Writing and Photography and five years working as an arborist at Disneyland. Her research focuses on the role of soil and root health in citrus disease.
