Seminar Title: "A Conversation Seminar about Seminars”
Short Description: In this seminar we will discuss how to prepare and deliver a seminar or scientific presentation. The students should be prepared to participate in the conversation by sharing their experience and observations on the presentations of the peers and invited speakers in the seminar series or any other presentation that left a positive or negative impression.
Biography: Dr. Georgios Vidalakis completed his undergraduate studies at the Agricultural University of Athens, Greece. He completed his Ph.D. studies in the Dept. of Plant Pathology at UC Riverside in 2004 and joined the department of Microbiology & Plant Pathology in 2005 as a faculty and the director of the Citrus Clonal Protection Program (CCPP). His unique position allows him to collaborate with diverse stakeholders in research, extension, government, and various industries, building a solid reputation both nationally and internationally as an authority in grant-transmissible diseases of citrus. In 2018 he received the Excellence in Regulatory Affairs and Crop Security Award from the American Phytopathological Society. In 2023, he briefed the Lieutenant Governor of California and the UC Regents on citrus issues and the activities of the CCPP. He became chair of the International Organization of Citrus Virologist (IOCV) in 2019, and since 2010, he has chaired/co-chaired the National Clean Plant Network (NCPN) for Citrus.
