The Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology's weekly Plant Pathology 250 seminar series is presented this week by:

Gretchen Heimlich-Villalta, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside 

Seminar Title: "Citrus Health from the Ground Up: Assessing the Impacts of Humic Substance on Citrus Root Growth"

Biography: Gretchen Heimlich-Villalta is a fourth-year PhD student in the laboratory of Dr. Caroline Roper. Her research focuses o the role of soil and root health in citrus disease.

Christopher Drozd, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside 

Seminar Title: "Unlocking New Microbial Tools for Combatting a Destructive Plant Pathogen with High-Throughput Culturomics" 

Biography: Christopher Drozd is a Ph.D. candidate in Dr. Caroline Roper's lab. His research focuses on using new methodologies to characterize the culturable Citrus microbiome, as well as the discovery of natural products inhibitory to Liberibacter species.
