The Department of Microbiology and Plant Pathology's weekly Plant Pathology 250 seminar series is presented this week by:

Kian Kelly, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside 

Seminar Title: "An examination of biological soil crust mycobiomes and their ecological functions within drylands"

Biography: Kian Kelly is a second year Plant Pathology PhD student in the Jason Stajich lab. His research focuses on the fungal communities within biological soil crusts.

William Samson, Plant Pathology Graduate Student, UC Riverside

Seminar Title: "Evaluating byproducts of industrial Black Soldier Fly rearing for plant priming and plant growth promotion activity"

Biography: William is a fourth year PhD student in Dr. Kerry Mauck's lab. He is currently researching biofertilizer and crop protection applications for Black Soldiers Fly by-products in California agriculture. He is passionate about plant immunity and crop protection. Before graduate school, he worked on the development of conventional and biorational crop inputs.
